The Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

The Patriot Guard Riders is a 100% volunteer, federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization which ensures dignity and respect at memorial services honoring fallen military heroes, first responders, and honorably discharged veterans.

Vision Statement:

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security, including fallen military heroes, first responders, and honorably discharged veterans. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedom of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

A Message/Invitation from the Patriot Guard of South Texas

John,

I am excited to announce that I will head up a Memorial Weekend event on Saturday, 28 May 2011, to San Diego, TX at America’s Last Patrol Ranch. This is going to be a major event with a very large attendance expected from all Coastal Bend area Veteran’s groups including, VFW, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), AmVets, DAV, etc.., and the general public.

The Corpus Christi Veteran’s Band will be there and perform, and Congressman Blake Farenthold is expected also.

The guests of honor will include the Rusk family. We served at PFC (USMC) Colton Rusk’ funeral, 18 December, 2010.  PFC Rusk was a dog handler with the 3/5 Darkhorse WPNS Co. and was KIA in Afghanistan by an IED. His dog, Eli, was severely wounded in the explosion as well, but survived and is now his family’s pet and protector. Eli will be at the memorial service with the family. They have also invited the families of LCPL Maldonado USMC, and SPC Gartner USA, whose missions we also took care of, but do not have confirmation yet that they will attend.

Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to attend, and they have asked for lots of flagged bikes to ride in, kicking off the ceremony.  We will than stand a brief flag line for the beginning of the ceremony for honors to the national ensign and each US service flag.

I know it is a little bit of a ride but I cannot over exaggerate how big an event this is expected to be. All area media have been invited and BBQ will be served following the ceremony.

It will start at 1:00 pm with us “roaring” in with our flagged bike. It should be awesome!

I am requesting that you and your Patriot Guard Riders of Rio Grande Valley join us for this event. I suggest that we rendezvous in Alice at US Hwy 281 bypass/TX Hwy 44 at about 12:00 noon and then ride to San Diego together. Working on San Diego Police escort to ceremony. I will provide specific location with final itinerary. Plan is to ride from rendezvous in Alice through San Diego together stopping at the San Diego High School on 359 to unfurl our flags then at 12:45 pm, proceed slowly down 359 the remaining 12 miles to America’s Last Patrol Ranch with SDPD escort.

Really hope you guys can make this event and join us. Should be a great day!

Warmest Regards,

Eric Thomas
