Greetings RGVPGR,
Sorry to send this out so late but I have been swamped today. I thought it might be too short fused to notify you guys, but just heard some of your people were planning to come up so I thought I would send you the details. Interment will follow later after the new Texas Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi opens later this year.

Greetings Members,
I want to thank everyone for their patience awaiting this notification. It has been a very difficult past couple days with the passing of our dear friend, mentor, shipmate, and former Lead Ride Captain, John “Grumpy” Hertzler. A memorial service and rosary is scheduled for TOMORROW, Thursday, 25 August 2011at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Flour Bluff. Rosary is at 4:30pm. Memorial Service is at 5:00pm.
We will stage a Flag line for both these services and will need several support vehicles for the expected large turnout for our PGR colleagues as well as VFW and FRA Shipmates. If you are available and can participate as support vehicle please contact me ASAP. Your support is sincerely appreciated.
DATE: Thursday, August 25, 2011
TIME: Show: 3:30 pm Set Flag line: 4:00pm Rosary Service: 4:30 Memorial Service 5:00 pm
LOCATION: St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church

Corpus Christi, TX 78418-4634
Please arrive at church by 3:30 pm.
WEATHER: Forecast is for more of the same. VERY HOT. Expected heat index around 105! Please come hydrated and drink water in line.
Ride Captains will monitor lines and rotate members to avoid overheating. Member Safety First! Support Vehicles will have lots of water for our members as well as expected VFW and FRA brothers and sisters that will be there and join our Flag lines.
Following the Rosary and Memorial there will be a Dinner at the church hall catered by our own Debbie Cooper. ALL PGR members are welcome.
Also, if any of our members have PGR pictures of John the family has requested that you bring them. There will be tables set up in the foyer to place them for display.
Please continue to keep Nelly and the rest of John’s family in your prayers to help them through this difficult time.
Thanks for all you do,
Eric Thomas
